In the heart of Arizona, amidst the challenges of a global pandemic, The Local Caterer emerged as a beacon of culinary passion and community commitment. Founded in 2020 by Chef Josh Bakken, our journey goes beyond catering; it's a story of resilience, love, and a deep-seated desire to serve.
With a rich background boasting over 14 years in the Restaurant and Hospitality Industry, Chef Josh brings a wealth of expertise in diverse cuisines and culinary techniques. His dream of bringing people together around the dinner table became a reality with the establishment of The Local Caterer.
Originally from Wisconsin, Chef Josh found his home in Arizona in 2007. It was here that he not only discovered his love for the culinary arts but also met his future wife, Kasandra. In 2018, they exchanged vows, welcoming a daughter and then a son into their lives. As a family, the Bakkens are actively engaged in their community, notably at Paloma, where their commitment extends beyond the kitchen.
Chef Josh's impact isn't confined to catering exquisite meals. His compassionate heart led to the initiation of a remarkable free lunch program for underprivileged children, a testament to his belief in nourishing both bodies and spirits.
Actively involved in his church, Chef Josh is a pillar of support, generously sharing his time, skills, and resources. His contributions foster unity and camaraderie, creating a community that goes beyond culinary excellence.
Chef Josh Bakken isn't just a culinary maestro; he holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Software Engineering, Culinary Arts, and Business Management. Beyond the bustling kitchen, he finds joy in family activities, be it playing pickleball, engaging in video games, or simply spending quality time with his wife, Kasandra, and their two young children.
